The Retrofit SuDS Feasibility Toolkit provides City of London engineers with a clear, practical framework for identifying and integrating blue-green infrastructure into streets and public spaces, supporting the City’s Climate Action Strategy. By streamlining early-stage decision-making and focusing on retrofit-friendly SuDS such as rain gardens, tree pits, and permeable paving, the toolkit helps accelerate the delivery of a more resilient, greener and climate-adapted Square Mile.
New Change Gardens transforms a once hard, inaccessible space into a fully accessible, biodiverse and climate-resilient public garden at the heart of the City. Through sensitive level design, SuDS-led surface water management and the creative reuse of heritage materials, the project showcases how small urban spaces can be reimagined to support people and nature alike.
Little Trinity Lane has been transformed into a greener, climate-resilient streetscape through the introduction of sustainable drainage, climate-resilient planting, and greater amenity offering. Set against a historic backdrop the scheme slows and manages runoff at source, enhances biodiversity, and creates a more inviting space for everyday use in the heart of the Square Mile.
The Leadenhall Street Transformation represents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to reimagine one of the Square Mile’s most iconic streets — creating a safer, greener, and more resilient environment at the heart of the City of London.
